As a part of golden jubilee celebrations of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), a three-day spiritual event from Thursday to Saturday was organised at Swaraj Mydan in the city.

ISKCON’s core beliefs are based on traditional Hindu scriptures, particularly the Bhagavad Gita and the Srimad Bhagavatam.

ISKCON was formed to spread the practice of Bhakti Yoga and the devotees dedicate their thoughts and actions to impress the Supreme Lord Krishna.

ISKCON today has its worldwide confederation with more than 550 centers. This organisation is running schools, restaurants and also rehabilitation centers.

ISKCON has started a mega project of constructing a Golden Temple at Kondaveedu. On the occasion of Golden Jubilee celebrations, spiritual and cultural programmes were also planned during the evening session.

On the first day, a spectacular dance ballet was presented by Prince Dance Group of Berhampur, Odisha.

The ballet was based on the incidents that occurred in the life of the founder of ISKCON AC Vedanta swami Prabhupada.

This colorful ballet was choreographed by T Krishna Reddy who also performed as Krishna in the ballet.

The other main roles were performed by Sandeep Kumar Patnaik as Swamy Prabhupada, Saisankar Pradhan as Narada and Arjun Sahu as Chaintya Mahaprabhu.

Rajeswari Preesti, Padmini Padhe, Mani Behara, Kalyani Ray, Ritanjali Mahapatro, Susmitha panda, Suchismtha Samal, Saswathi and Sowmya also preformed as the other characters in the play.

The colorful costumes and make up was designed by Balaram Mahapatro and settings by Murali Mohan. The ballet mesmerised the audience with their wonderful performance.

The discourse of Satyagopinath Prabhuji on Bhagavad Gita was well received by the audience. He stressed upon the need of reading Bhagavad Gita in the present days.
