Even as big lit-fests are being cancelled across the country, the Hyderabad Book Fair (HBF) - into its 30th year this time - will begin as scheduled on December 15 and go on till December 26 at NTR Stadium.

“This is the first time that we are having the fair for 12 days,” said Chandramohan, general secretary, HBF.

The event is organised by Hyderabad Book Fair Society along with Department of Language & Culture, Telangana

Last year upto 10 lakh people visited the gala event and the organisers are expecting greater footfall this year.

In all there would be 280 stalls including a separate writers’ hall where people can meet their favourite authors.

While there would be books on different genres and themes, organisers say that special emphasis is given to books in regional languages.

As in the past, every day there would be a cultural programme and a book release function. Drawing and painting competitions too would be held during the 12-day fair.

In a unique initiative, HBF is associating with ‘Story Art India’ where a team would be visiting schools for story telling sessions.

The entry is free for students from KG to PG provided they carry their identity proof. For general public it is Rs 5.
