Aswaraopet: About 200 motorcycle-riders held a demonstration at a petrol bunk on the Bhadrachalam Road on Tuesday morning protesting against alleged adulteration of fuel in the last one week.

They said their vehicles have been emitting white smoke and had to take to mechanic for getting repaired.

They claimed that when they contacted a mechanic the white smoke was attributed to mixing of fuel with other pollutants.

During the demonstration, bike riders got into argument with the petrol bunk staff. Seeing the commotion, local Tahsildar reached the spot and checked the petrol.

He announced seizure of the bunk. When the demonstrators continued their protest, the police intervened to control the situation.

Demonstrators Gurumurthy, Bujji and D Prasad told The Hans India that during the last one week their vehicles, both new and old, would stop suddenly.

They complained that engines of the vehicles purchased 10 days back were damaged because of the use of adulterated fuel.

This made them question the petrol bunk owner, who contended that he has been selling the fuel that is supplied, while denying any adulteration by the staff.

A representative of the company which supplied petrol claimed that it might be changed or adulterated by the tanker driver or cleaner.
