Adilabad: District Superintendent of Police M Srinivas said that it was difficult to imagine the police department without the home guards who have become a part and parcel of the department.

Participating in the 54th Home Guards Foundation Day as the chief guest at the Home Guards office in the town on Tuesday, he said that the State government was would take a sympathetic view of the problems faced by the home guards and try to solve them.


The Superintendent of Police said that the home guards were a highly disciplined lot and lauded them for not participating in a dharna organised in Hyderabad pressing for their demands.

He said that home guards were extremely friendly and amicable people and said that he would always stand by them in their hour of need.

The police department would extend their full support to them, he added. He said that the future was bright for the home guards. He said that he would hold discussions with the Deputy Inspector-General of Police Ravi Varma about the problems facing the home guards of Nizamabad district who were transferred to other districts after the reorganisation of districts.

Later, the Superintendent of Police took a guard of honour under home guard commander Lakshman and flagged off a huge rally in the town.

They also participated in the Swachh Bharat campaign at the Kuntala waterfalls in Neredigonda mandal in the district. Around 1 80 home guards and 60 policemen led by the Superintendent of Police cleaned up the garbage near the water falls.

They also cleaned up the 500 steps near the water falls. The onlookers were very happy by the steps taken by the police.

DSPs A Malla Reddy and S Lakshminarayana, Police Training Centre Sitaramulu, Ichhoda Cirlce Inspector of police Karunakar and others were present.
