Services of Home Guards lauded
Superintendent of Police Shahnawaz Qasim said although Home Guards was started as a voluntary organisation, the force has assumed a lot of importance in maintenance of internal security and perform various duties.

Speaking at the 54th Annual Raising Day of Home Guards, celebrated amid fanfare at the District Police Parade Grounds here on Tuesday, the SP said there was no difference between police and Home Guard forces as they both work hard in difficult situations.
Highlighting the responsibilities of Home Guards, the SP lauded the service of the force for assisting in any kind of emergency and also during calamities.
He said Home Guards were of immense help to the State police and civil administration in the maintenance of law and order.
The SP gave away certificates of merit to Home Guard company commander E Venkateswarlu, G Satyanarayana, M Murali Krishna, G Seshaiah, D Veera Swamy, V Ramesh, D Shankar, N Mallikarjun Rao, K Rupavathi and N Nageswar Rao, who excelled in their duty.
DSP K Suresh Kumar, inspectors P Naresh Reddy and Tirupathi Reddy were among others present. Earlier, the Home Guards took out a rally in the city as part of annual day celebration.
