Nizamabad: District Telangana Mudiraj Mahasabha president Immadi Gopi appealed to the people to participate in large numbers and make the rally at Nizam College grounds in Hyderabad a grand success.

Speaking to the media at the press club in the town on Tuesday, he said that the Mudiraj community was backward in several aspects and it needs to be included among the fishermen class through GO No. 19/1964 and GO. No. 74/2011.

Gopi demanded the State government to take action against those brokers and middlemen who were exploiting the fishermen in the State.

He said that Aasara pensions should be sanctioned to the fishermen and the children of the Mudiraj community members should be given reservations in the Gurukul schools.

Jobs should be provided to the youth of the Mudiraj community as they were socially and financially backward, he added.

The District Mudiraj Mahasabha president lashed out at the previous Congress and TDP governments in the State for neglecting the Mudiraj community.

Though a large number of people among the Mudiraj community take part in fishing, they were unnecessarily included among the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and the backward classes.

Immadi Gopi said that the statues of Constable Kistaiah should be installed in all the villages and mandals as he became the first martyr while fighting for the cause of the Mudiraj community.

He said they had already appealed to the State government in this regard. Gopi said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Finance Minister Eatala Rajender and Telangana State Mudiraj community president Banda Prakash would take part in the Mudiraj Mahasabha at Hyderabad on December 18.

District Mudiraj community vice-presidents Earla Shekar, Gangadhar and others were present.
