Warangal: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has been adopting double standards in the construction of double bedroom houses to the poorer sections, alleged city Congress working president Rajanala Srihari.

He said the CM, who ensured speedy completion of double bedroom houses at Erravelli village in Jagdevpur mandal of Medak district, has failed to see that the construction of the houses in Warangal city finished at the earliest.

The files related to construction of double bedroom houses at Erravelli, in Warangal and Mahbubnagar were signed by the CM on June 6 this year. It was proposed to build 1,500 houses in Warangal and 2,000 in Mahabubnagar though there were 3,957 identified beneficiaries in both places respectively.

Nonetheless, there was no progress at all in the construction work, which was still at basement level while at Erravelli, the houses were now ready for occupation.

Further the government has allocated Rs 8 lakhs for each house at Erravelli while Rs 5 lakhs were allocated for a double bedroom house in Warangal.

‘It is a clear case of negligent attitude of Chandrashekar Rao towards Warangal people’ Srihari said. On Tuesday, he along with local Congress leaders and the identified beneficiaries visited SR Nagar in Warangal city where construction of 792 houses in G plus 1 pattern were proposed.

As the funds allocated were insufficient the contractors were removing many components of the construction besides delaying the works.

The TRS government should immediately initiate measures to expedite the construction of the works and ensure sufficient funds, Srihari demanded.

He warned that if the government fails to address the issue serious agitations would be taken up by Congress party involving the beneficiaries.

The party leaders Siricilla Rajaiah, Manda Vinod Kumar, M Sarangapani, Ch Venkateshwarlu and others were present.
