Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is all set to demolish Chandralok commercial complex near Paradise circle.

The town planning officials took this decision after receiving structural stability certificate from experts on Thursday.

The complex had been sealed following a death after the parapet wall collapsed recently.

Officials held the owners responsible citing poor maintenance on their part as the reason for its collapse.

In their report, GHMC said that not only elevation but also the railings, projections and parapet walls around the commercial complex as well as residential portions in all blocks were in a dangerous condition.

Hence, they were likely to collapse any moment causing danger to the inmates, surrounding buildings and traffic below.

A senior town planning official said that the 40-year-old building is too weak.

He said that the Corporation has been completing official formalities to demolish the building and that the building would likely be collapsed in a week.

He said that experts from Osmania University and JNTU have been checking the structural stability of all such buildings across the city to take up the demolition drive.
