A student of Indus International School, Hyderabad, Ria Thimmaiahgari of Class IX, won the 12th Indian regional Brain Bee Regional competition held in the city and will advance to the national level to test her knowledge of all things cerebral.

​Hyderabad: A student of Indus International School, Hyderabad, Ria Thimmaiahgari of Class IX, won the 12th Indian regional Brain Bee Regional competition held in the city and will advance to the national level to test her knowledge of all things cerebral.

Ria was declared winner at an event held on 11th December 2016 amongst 37 students from 21 prestigious schools and colleges in and around Hyderabad at the regional competition held at NATCO House, Banjara Hills.

The winner will participate in the 10th Indian National Brain Bee 2017, likely to be conducted in Ahmadabad.

The competition had four phases; one written test followed by three phases of Orals. Dr.SubhashKaul, Head of Neurology Department, Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, conducted 1st 2nd and 3rd phases of oral rounds of the quiz, enlightening participants on various functions of the Brain.

As the competition progressed, many moments of suspense passed amongst the audience as each contestant attempted to answer the questions posed before them. At the end of the competition, three students emerged victorious.

First place was secured by Ria Thimmaiahgari of Indus International School Hyderabad, second by Sri Krishna Ravi of Oakridge International school, and third by S.L.N Karthikeya Saket of The Hyderabad Public School Ramanthapur.

Ria Thimmaiahgari, who will be competing in the Indian National Brain Bee (to be conducted in April 2017), added, “I am very grateful to my teacher KarthikMangu, along with my school Indus International Hyderabad for constantly supporting me and providing me with all the help I needed to prepare for this competition. I look forward to doing my best at Nationals as well.”

Indian National Brain Bee is a neuroscience contest has been created to encourage students of the science stream to explore neurosciences, understand the need for discovering cures for diseases related to human brain and central nervous system and also make students realize the opportunities in this area of biomedical research.
