Seventh day of Hyderabad Book Fair, witnessed large crowd than the previous days especially at the talk show organised on the topic ‘Women Literature and its impact’.

Writers Mudiganti Sujatha Reddy, Jupaka Subhadra, Dr K Sridevi and Pingali Chaitanya participated in the talk.

The discussion started with women empowerment and Dr K Sridevi says, “Many years ago world women’s day was celebrated only by the NGO’s but today everyone is celebrating it due to the effect of women empowerment.

We are also seeing women getting more opportunities in government and private sectors also.

Our society also agreed that there is no development without women.”

“When I was student my parents did not allow me to go school by cycle due to the non acceptance of women riding cycles at that time from society.

But the situation has changed in recent times. Today many fathers allow their daughters to work even in night shifts.

In every field women are equally succeeding with men.

Writers, like Olga, Vasi Reddy Seetadevi, Abburi Chaya Devi and Yaddanapudi Sulochana Rani writings inspired women,” she adds.

“From 1980 to 2000 we have more women poetry.

Minority women are also writing their literature.

In many occasions we forgot the women role in many fields.

All religions have not given priority to women.

Tribal women are also facing two types of problems- from their family men and also by outside men.

Muslim women are facing issues. Our country is however, divided by caste, gender and religion,” she shared.

Speaking at the talk show writer Jupaka Subhadra, said “Women literature started with Kosta Andhra higher caste women issues.

Caste and gender politics also have much impact on women.

Even today some areas in our country have no kitchen room for Dalit women.

This year organisers of Hyderabad Book Fair have provided only one program for women out of 20 cultural programs. Here also we face discrimination.”
