Peddapalli: In a bid to give a strong push to cashless economy in the wake of demonetisation, District Collector VS Alagu Varshini has called upon the people to turn to online transactions.

Speaking at an awareness programme organised by the administration here on Friday, she said that virtually mobile phones will turn into banks. “Cashless transactions are easy and convenient. All that people need to do is to get used to it,” Varshini said.

The role of people’s representatives, bankers, postal department and officials is pivotal, she said, asking them to educate the people, especially to those living in rural areas, to go for cashless transactions.

Referring to various modes of cashless transactions, she said that people can instantly send money, pay all kind of bills, recharge mobiles etc.

If adopted cashless transactions to the possible extent, people can manage with Rs 4,000 cash, Varshini said. She predicted that in a few years, cashless transactions will take over the economy of the country. Peddapalli MPP S Sunitha, postal and bank officials were among others present.
