The students of Cheruvu Mida Tanda, hamlet of Setpalli village in Lingampet mandal in Kamareddy district were shifted to another government school at Setpalli. There are at least one hundred families in the Tanda.

Jyotsna, teacher of the school regularly attends the school and leaves in the evening. The parents said that the staff of the school was not cooking midday meal properly and that was why they shifted their children to another government school. Some of them even shifted their children to a private school.

Jyotsna confirmed that the midday meal was not properly served to the students forcing them to migrate to some other school though a school was available in the vicinity. The teacher said that there was no drinking water facility in the school.

“If facilities are made available to the students, they would certainly return to this school,” she added. In spite of the almost nil attendance to this school, the officials are not taking any precaution to correct the situation, the villagers said.

Even the school development committee president, Dasarath, sends his 4th class studying son to another school at Setpalli. He said that he was compelled to shift his son after the officials failed to improve the conditions in spite of several petitions submitted by him many times.

Chandiram of the same village said that he was also sending his 3rd class studying granddaughter to another school. “Our children would return to the school in the village if the conditions were improved,” he added.
