Member Rolling Stock, Railway Board, Ravindra Gupta highlighted the importance of skill development programmes for the Railway staff during the ‘South Central Railway Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineers Conference’ at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad on Friday.

“Priority should be accorded to skill development programmes for the staff to enhance productivity and improved quality of services to the passengers,” advised Gupta. He stated that staff is the biggest asset and wealth for Railways.

Ravindra Gupta stressed that workshops and depots should be the places of excellence and when the product comes out of it, it should be as good as a new product.

He suggested the officials to create basic facilities at the workshops for imparting training to the staff to ensure proper maintenance of passenger coaches.

“Quality cannot be quantified, it is perceptional based but an assessment of the quality shall be made and yardsticks can be formulated in awarding contracts for various cleaning activity works on railways,” he said.

Arjun Mundiya, Chief Mechanical Engineer, KP Somkuwar, Chief Workshop Manager, SS Mishra, Chief Rolling Stock Engineer, SCR and senior DMEs from all divisions were amongst those present in the conference.
