Stop screening Vangaveeti, Youth Congress demands

Khammam: The leaders of the Youth Congress Committee demanded to stop the screening of Vangaveeti, a movie in which the former MLA of Congress Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga was portrayed as a history-sheeter.The 28th death anniversary of Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga was observed grandly by the leaders of the Telangana State Youth Congress Committee here in Khammam on Monday.
The youth leaders paid rich floral tributes to Ranga and distributed fruits, milk and bread to the inmates of Jeevan Sandhya Old age Home here in Khammam on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, the State General Secretary of the Youth Congress Committee Ramshetti Manohar Naidu said Ranga strived hard for the welfare of the weaker sections fighting against the ruling governments of his time and won the hearts of many.Criticising filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma, Naidu said: “For gaining mileage, Ram Gopal Verma portrayed Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga as a history-sheeter in his film. The persons who killed Ranga were given more preference and were shown in positive light whereas Ranga was defamed.”
He demanded the movie’s screening immediately. If the screening was stopped, the Youth Congress along with the leaders of the Congress Party would teach him a fitting lesson, he warned.Leaders of Youth Congress Committee Raparthi Sharath Kumar, Venni Ranganath, Karthik, Raparthi Sathyanarayana, Mekala Akhila, Avinash, Victor and Bukya Kishan Naik were present along with others.
