Kadile Papahareshwara temple is situated in the dense forest region around 6 km from Dilawarpur village in Nirmal town of  Adilabad district in the Telangana State This temple has a very serene and peaceful environment. 

Adilabad: Nirmal town has rich culture and pilgrimage centres having mythological importance. Among these, is the the “Kadile Papahareshwar Temple” of Lord Papahareshwara Swami, one of the forms of Lord Shiva.

It is situated in the dense forest region around 6 km from Dilawarpur village in Nirmal town of Adilabad district in the Telangana State This temple has a very serene and peaceful environment.

The temple got its name as “Kadile Papahareshwar Temple”, as it is believed that the idol of Lord Papahareshwar slightly swings, hence ‘Kadile’ and the name ‘Papahareshwara’ is because the God is said to wipe off all sins. People flock here in large numbers so that they could be absolved of all sins.

According to mythology the great legend Parashurama, one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu, performed a severe penance to appease Lord Shiva as repentance for killing his mother on the advice of his father Jamadagni.

Pleased with his devotion, Lord Shiva appeared before him and told him to install 32 shivalingams to purify himself from all sins and attain salvation. The first shivalingam is installed at Kashi (Varanasi) and the remaining here.

The temple has a small gopuram and a dhwajasthambam installed in front of the sanctum sanctorum. The Garbha Gudi has a Shivalingam .

A large number of devotees visit the temple and drink the water from the Rushikunds to get rid of their chronic diseases.

The idol of Goddess Annapurnadevi is also present in the temple just like the one in the Vishwanadha temple in Varanasi.

All those who take the darshan of Lord Shiva have to take darshan of the Goddess without fail and seek Her blessings.

Another unique feature of this temple is that while all other temples of Lord Shiva have an eastern entrance, the Papahareshwara temple has the entrance in the western side.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, temple priest Lakshminarayana said the entrance was made in Western side to ward off the ill.

While all the Shiva temples across the country have the Lingam and the idol of Lord Shiva side by side, in the Papahareshwara temple, the idol is not situated near the Lingam but atop the temple.

It is believed that the Dwarapalakas, or the security guards near the temple have miraculous powers to cure people and children of all kinds of diseases. The children are made to lie down near the feet of the Dwarapalakas.

During ancient times, large number of seers did intense penance in this region and attained salvation.
It is also said that the size of the bull (Nandi), the vehicle of Lord Shiva keeps growing every year.

Ardent devotees firmly believe that the idols of Lord Shiva and Nandi are pulsating with life and keep increasing in size.

As people believe that Nandi also keeps moving, Lord Shiva is referred to as ‘Kadile’ Papahareshwara.

Another belief here is that by drinking the hot and cold water contained in the rishikundas here and taking bath, people can get rid of their skin diseases.

The water has medicinal properties. It is also widely believed that a visit to this famous shrine would improve inter-personal relations, especially between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.

They should come here, take a holy bath and offer conduct special rituals and prayers. The devotees expressed the hope that the government would release more funds for the development and upgradation of the temple.
