Two students of Markazi Government High School in Hanamkonda have excelled in a State-level chess competition organised by Telugu Association of North America (TANA).

​Hanamkonda: Two students of Markazi Government High School in Hanamkonda have excelled in a State-level chess competition organised by Telugu Association of North America (TANA).

The two-day competition was organised by TANA in association with Telangana State Chess Association and Telangana State Chess in Schools Committee in Hyderabad for government school students on December 26 and 27.

The students - Padala Nandini Devi and Banothu Raju - have stood top at district-level event and won cash prize worth Rs 10,000 each.

Warangal (West) MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhasker, former MLA D Ramesh Babu have organised the award presentation ceremony on Tuesday in Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Vinay Bhasker lauded the initiative by TANA in organising the event for government school students.

Such competitions would help to bring the talent hidden among the students and to encourage them to compete at higher levels. TANA member Srinivasa Gogineni and others were present.
