A Muslim, Sheikh Azeez, hailing from Sonala village of Boath mandal in the district offered Bhiksha (alms) to large number of Ayyappa devotees here on Tuesday and became a symbol of peace, communal harmony and secularism. 

​Nizamabad: A Muslim, Sheikh Azeez, hailing from Sonala village of Boath mandal in the district offered Bhiksha (alms) to large number of Ayyappa devotees here on Tuesday and became a symbol of peace, communal harmony and secularism.

A butcher by profession, he is sells chicken. Speaking to The Hans India here on Tuesday, he said that he took a vow last year that he would feed 36 Ayyappa Swamis (devotees) if his desire was fulfilled.

On the fulfillment of his desire, he fed the 36 devotees by personally serving them.

Azeez recited the name of ‘Swamiye sharanam Ayyappa’ while giving Tamboolam to the devotees. He said that he fed the devotees as he has faith in Sami Ayyappa and likes the Ayyappa mala very much.

People in the district lauded Azeeez for his secular stand.
