He laid foundation stone for the construction of toilets in Anthargam village of Jagtial mandal at 8 am on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that there is a need to construct about 60,000 toilets in the district as per the survey.

After conducting a meeting with officials and peoples’ representatives of every constituency, an action plan was prepared for constructing about 60,000 toilets in 90 days, after identifying the beneficiaries for placing the district under Swachh district category, explained the Collector.

Under Swachh Bharat and Swachh Telangana programme, a rare initiative of construction of 820 toilets in 36 hours is taken up on war footing in five villages of Obulapur (200), Nadikuda (130), Bhupathipur (200), Vengalaipet (190) and Anthargam (100), he added.

Quoting the call given by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao that the government should solve the problem wherever it is, he said a team was formed with district officials and peoples’ representatives along with beneficiaries.

Also an action plan was prepared by appointing in-charge officer for every five toilets and a supervisor for every 10 toilets along with dumping the required materials at the construction place for constructing of 820 toilets in 36 hours.

After completing construction of toilets in all five villages by 8 pm on Wednesday, the officials will declare these villages as open defecation-free at a programme, the Collector said.

Korutla MLA Kalvakuntla Vidyasagar Rao, DSP Karunakar and Korutla constituency in-charge Dr Sanjay Kumar were present along with others.
