Hanamkonda: The CPI is committed to end suppression of poorer classes, asserted the party state control commission secretary and ex-MLA, Potharaju Saraiah.He said the party, which has been fighting for the welfare of the suppressed classes for the past nine decades, would continue to do so in future. The party would make renewed efforts to fight against the capitalist and feudal forces.Saraiah took part in the 91st Foundation Day celebrations of Communist Party of India here on Wednesday. A massive rally with 91 metres long party flag was taken out from Thousand Pillar Temple to Ambedkar Chowrastha marking the day.

Since independence the party has been working to create an equitable society and hence supported separate Telangana cause. During Telangana Armed Struggle the party has set free nearly 4,000 villages from the tyrannical rule of erstwhile Nizams and feudal forces and 10 lakh acres of land was distributed to the landless poor. Nearly 4,500 activists of the party have lost lives in the struggle, Saraiah reminded.

Drawing inspiration from the martyrs the party cadre should make efforts to strengthen the party and to fight for the cause of common man by building mass movements. Only Left wing parties could ensure justice to the people, he said.The demonetisation move by the Centre led by BJP has caused economic crisis, he added.Party urban district secretary S Karunakar, state executive member N Jyothi, city secretary Sk Bashumiya, leaders K Bikshapathi, Panasa Prasad, Bussa Ravinder, N Ashok Stalin and others were present.
