Cong celebrates its 132nd Foundation Day

Warangal: Grand celebrations marked the 132nd Foundation Day of Congress party across the district on Wednesday.The party leaders have hoisted flags at all the assembly segments marking the day. Along with senior leaders, party district president N Rajender Reddy hoisted party flag at Congress Bhavan and at party district headquarters in Hanamkonda.

Later addressing a gathering on the occasion, he said the Congress party has got a rich history and legacy. The party fought bravely for the freedom of India and it has been the true representative of people of nation.Since the independence of India, Congress has made great contributions to build the nation and for the welfare of the suppressed classes and emancipation of the poorer sections. Democratic principles have been deeply rooted in the party and the real strength of the party was its cadres, Rajender Reddy said.

Former premiers and Congress leaders like late Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi have made great contribution for India’s progress in technological, industrial and agricultural fields. But the directionless policies like demonetisation being adopted by Narendra Modi led-BJP government making the country go backwards in terms of progress, he complained. In another programme at Pochamma Maidan, the city Congress working president Rajanala Srihari hoisted the flag and cut a cake in the presence of students of Arabic School.

He said the party leadership stands by its word given to people. As part of it, Congress delivered the promise of separate Telangana made to the people by the party chief Sonia Gandhi. The party during its 13 decades of existence has witnessed several ups and downs and would soon emerge as a force in the State and across the nation. The people in the country always trusted Congress, he noted.

Former Mayor Errabelli Swarna has hoisted the flag near Padmakshi Temple and addressed the party workers. DCC Bank Chairman J Raghava Reddy took out a rally at Palakurthy marking the foundation day and hoisted the party flag. The party leaders have called upon the party workers to fight against the failures of State and Central governments. They stressed on the need to strengthen the party at grassroots level by actively working on the public issues.

The city Congress president K Srinivasa Rao, TPCC general secretary N Srinivas, secretary EV Srinivasa Rao, frontal organisations leaders M Sridhar Goud, P Vijay, M Srinivas, Poshala Padma, Md Ayub, GWMC councillors V Srinivas and T Raju, senior leaders Manda Vinod Kumar, G Raju and others were present.
