Sathupalli: Activists of the CPI (M) on Thursday staged a dharna in this mandal centre to protest against Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s comments in the State Assembly against the party. The activists’ attempt to burn an effigy of KCR was thwarted by the police. The party leaders were taken into custody and shifted to the nearest police station.

In Wyra, the CPI activists staged a demonstration against the TRS government for adopting a new land acquisition act replacing the one introduced by the Centre in 2013, which, the party said would severely harm the interests of farmers. They burnt the overnment’s effigy. Addressing the protestors, a district leader of CPI, B Rambabu, critisied the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for his comments in the State Assembly on Wednesday against the party.

Stating that the comments lack grace, Rambabu and other party leaders demanded replacement of the new Bill passed by the Assembly on Wednesday. They called upon the TRS government to stop taking steps that harm the interests of the farming community.
