Khammam: The Telangana Rythu Sangham staged a protest here on Thursday opposing the amendment to the Land Acquisition Act that passed in the Telangana Assembly on Wednesday.Rythu Sangham State joint secretary Nunna Nageswara Rao said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was following the suit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was hell bent on bulldozing the rights of farmers.

In a related development, CPM State Secretariat member P Sudarshan Rao told the media persons that passing of Land Acquisition Bill in the Assembly without a debate was deplorable. He termed it as a ploy to forcibly take lands from farmers.

“In the name of constructing projects, the government is trying to acquire land forcibly from farmers. Moreover, the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao accuses the CPM, which is fighting for the cause of farmers, of stalling the development in the State,” Rao said, alleging that the TRS had forgotten the promises it made during the 2014 elections.

He also found fault with KCR for criticising CPM State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram who is spearheading the movement against the government demanding justice for the displaced of Mallannasagar and Kaleshwaram irrigation projects. He said CPM never created unnecessary fuss over the land acquisition posing threat to the lives of farmers as KCR alleged.He said that their party has always staged protests in a peaceful manner and never was any police personnel suffered injuries.Demanding the rollback of new Land Acquisition Act, he urged the government to implement the 2013 Act to do justice to the displaced.Rythu Sangham State joint secretary Nunna Nageswara Rao and district secretariat member Yerra Srikanth were among others present.
