Manuguru: The increasing road accidents due to bad roads are leaving the residents of Pinapaka, Manuguru, Aswapuram, Burgampahad mandals jittery. They are hesitating to commute on the main roads and highways owing to increase in fatal mishaps on these roads. The negligence of officials in carrying out repairs to the damaged roads was pointed as one of the reasons for the rising casualties.

The roads especially in Pinapaka, Manuguru, Aswapuram and Burgampahad towns have become synonymous with gruesome accidents, mainly involving sand lorries, auto-rickshaws and cars. While high speed is one of the causes, drunk driving and bad roads have also become the major reason.

Meanwhile, the December recorded highest number of accidents in the year. While 10 were killed in auto-sand lorry collision, several others were killed and many were grievously injured in other accidents.Locals Posham Narasimha Rao, Bhavani Shankar, TDP Manuguru mandal president and SI Santosh Kumar, while speaking to The Hans India, urged the officials to at least now properly carry out road repairs apart from creating awareness among road users.
