Hanamkonda: Warangal MP P Dayakar was made to pay a penalty of Rs 5,000 on behalf of the organisers, who put up flexi banners violating the ban on plastic banners at a programme here on Monday.The MP, along with MLAs D Vinay Bhasker, A Ramesh and T Rajaiah, Mayor N Narender, Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu, KUDA Chairman M Yadava Reddy and others, attended inaugural ceremony of Warangal parliament constituency-level cricket tournament at JNS Grounds in Hanamkonda.

After the programme was started, the Mayor pointed out that use of plastic banners was banned in the city from January 1, hence the banners should be removed and penalty should be paid. Then the MP came forward to pay the penalty of Rs 500 for each banner and paid Rs 5,000 for 10 banners put up at the grounds. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Vinay Bhasker and Mayor Narender said rules apply to all irrespective of party or position and public should extend their cooperation in making the city free from plastic.

Promoting eco-friendly lifestyle in the city is the objective of banning the plastic banners, they said.TRS district president T Ravinder Rao, party leaders G Ravi Kumar, K Vasudeva Reddy, Ch Ramesh, Municipal Health Officer B Raja Reddy and others were present.
