Nalgonda: BC wings of political parties, BC Employees Unions and leaders of BC Associations paid tributes to Savitribai Phule on her 185th birth anniversary on Tuesday.

The BC Welfare Association conducted a program near Jyotirao Phule statue at Clock Tower Centre in Nalgonda and celebrated Savitribai Phule’s birth anniversary on a grand note.

Speaking on the Occasion, BC Welfare Association District general secretary Vidyula Venkateshwarlu stated that, with the help of her husband she started a home for widows, who were abandoned by their families after the death of their husbands.

He further stated that she had actively participated in social reform movements in Maharashtra State. Savitribai Phule, who was the first woman teacher in the country, fought against gender and caste discrimination he added.

BC Employees Association general secretary Chittaiah Goud, BC Youth Association district president D Lakshminarayana, Praja Porata Samithi State president Nune Venkata Swamy, Retired IAS officer Prabhakar, and other BC leaders Gundu Venkateshwarlu , N Ramesh, L Govardhan and others participated in the program.
