Kakatiya Premier League Cricket Tournament begins
Telangana State Level Invitation Cup-2017 Kakatiya Premier League (KPL) cricket tournament has got underway at Ramaswamy Grounds at Karimabad in Warangal on Tuesday.
​Warangal: Telangana State Level Invitation Cup-2017 Kakatiya Premier League (KPL) cricket tournament has got underway at Ramaswamy Grounds at Karimabad in Warangal on Tuesday.
The 15-day tournament was being organised by Kakatiya Premier League and the event would conclude on January 18.
Former director of Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) and city Congress working president Rajanala Srihari has launched the tournament and interacted with the members of the participating teams.
Speaking on the occasion, he asked the participants to keep their bodies fit by maintaining strict regime of exercise and discipline and told them to give equal priority to sports and education.
The players should draw inspiration from cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli to excel in the sport at national and international levels. Srihari lauded the initiative by KPL in organising the event in Warangal.
The KPL Chairman, Md Akthar, informed that about 20 teams, divided into four groups, from across the State have been taking part in the tournament.
All arrangements were made for the accommodation of the players and smooth conduct of the event. City Congress minority wing president Md Ayub and others were present.
In another programme at the grounds on the day, the former director of SAAP Srihari has launched district-level selections for a State-level cricket and tennis tournament to be held at Mahabubnagar on January 7, 8 and 9.
The District Tennis and Cricket Association secretary D Ramu informed that nearly 500 players attending the selections. Physical education teachers Edward Kumar, N Praveen, Edla Parimala, M Jeevan and others were present.
