Hanamkonda: Even after the expiry of 50-day time sought by PM Narendra Modi, there were no signs of normalcy and easing of financial crisis caused by the Centre’s demonetisation move, alleged senior Congress leaders.

In order to represent the woes of the public due to demonetisation, Congress has planned nation-wide agitations, informed party MP Nandi Yellaiah and All India Congress Committee (AICC) regional coordinator PC Vishnunath.

It was planned to stage demonstrations at all district collectorates protesting against the Centre’s failure to bring order in the financial transactions in banks and business establishments.

In Warangal, the protest would be staged on January 6 followed by an agitation by Mahila Congress on January 9, they told press persons here on Tuesday.

Reiterating the party’s stand that demonetisation was the biggest scam in the country since Independence, Vishnunath said demonetisation was never done in the past on such a scale and in such a bad manner.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has now become ‘Reverse Bank of India’ as it has issued nearly 120 notifications changing its stance from time to time on cash deposits, exchange of old currency and other related issues. ‘This has made the public to lose trust in the RBI,’ he added.

Prime Minister Modi and the BJP leaders were ready to answer the questions posed by Congress and other Opposition parties on mismanagement of demonetisation and charges of corruption against the PM.

Public wanted to know how BJP and RSS leaders in northern states invested huge amounts in real estate before the move was announced, he noted.

MP Yellaiah complained that demonetisation has severely affected the lives of poor and middle classes, besides hitting 80 per cent of the business in the country. Farmers, agricultural labourers and petty vendors have suffered a lot.

He sought to know what happened to Modi’s promise of bringing back black money from foreign banks and depositing Rs 15 lakh into each citizen’s bank account. In order to avoid answering the Opposition, the PM had shied away from parliament session.

TPCC observers Azmatullah Hussain and Rega Kantha Rao, district Congress president N Rajender Reddy, city Congress president and working president K Srinivas Rao and Rajanala Srihari, senior leaders E Swarna, G Vijayarama Rao, PCC secretary EV Srinivas Rao and others were present.
