Peddapalli: ‘We must follow the footsteps of Savitribai Phule and take her as an inspiration, who strived hard for uplifting the women in society,’ said District Collector Dr V S Alagu Varshini in Peddapalli on Tuesday.

The Collector attended 186th birth anniversary programme of Savitribai Phule organised at Zilla Parishad High School for Girls here.

Speaking on the occasion, she said that Savitribai Phule was the first woman teacher of India, who believed strongly that the country will lead towards real development if the women of that country are educated well. She strived hard for the welfare of women and for their betterment.

Varshini advised that children must respect their parents and must bring good name to their parents by studying well and should keep themselves away from using of mobile phones.

She also suggested students to gain knowledge by concentrating more on studies and by learning new things along with developing creative skills.

The Collector had given the booklet of Dr B R Ambedkar Biography as a gift to Sai Charitha, who won an award at ‘National Children Science Congress’ recently.

District Educational Officer Venkateshwar Rao, District BC Welfare Officer Indira and School Principal Annapurna were present along with others.
