Speaking on the occasion, District president of AITUC B G Climont said that about 2.50 lakh of members are working on contract, outsourcing and third party contract basis since 15 years in various government departments across the State in 31 districts with minimum salaries and are living in miserable conditions.
Implement the judgement by Supreme Court in regard to contractual employees , it says
Khammam: The representatives of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) took out a rally from Gandhi Chowk to Collectorate demanding the government to implement the Supreme Court judgment of ‘equal work equal pay’ in respect of contractual employees and later submitted a memorandum to labour department official Madan Gopal in Khammam on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, District president of AITUC B G Climont said that about 2.50 lakh of members are working on contract, outsourcing and third party contract basis since 15 years in various government departments across the State in 31 districts with minimum salaries and are living in miserable conditions.
He also said that all daily wage employees, those engaged on casual and contract basis, were eligible for ‘equal pay for equal work’. An employee engaged for the same work, cannot be paid less than another as it affects human dignity. He also added, “According to Contract Labor Act they cannot be appointed on contract basis. But the governments are violating the Act by appointing innocent people on contract and outsourcing basis in various government departments and are deceiving the workers.”
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who promised to regularise all contract and outsourcing employees after coming to power, has failed to deliver the promise even after two and half years of his rule, he alleged. By providing all the facilities to workers, who were appointed on contract and outsourcing basis like that of regular employees, the government must release the pending wages immediately, he demanded the government.
The State leaders of the Anganwadi workers association Ch Sithamalakshmi, AITUC General Secretary Shingu Narasimha Rao, G Lakshminarayana, M Venkateshwarlu, Sambashiva Reddy, SK Yakub, M Ravi, A Ashok, M Krishna, B Paparao, U Narasaiah, Ch Venkanna, N Krishna, V Buchaiah, Chiranjeevi, Srinu, G Manemma and Vijay Shoba were present along with others.
