IT sleuths raid Padmaja Fertility Centre
Income Tax sleuths on Tuesday conducted raids on Dr Padmaja Fertility Centre of Navya Nursing Home at Bhongir town.
Bhongir: Income Tax sleuths on Tuesday conducted raids on Dr Padmaja Fertility Centre of Navya Nursing Home at Bhongir town.
Simultaneously, raids were also conducted on Navya Nursing Home at Bhongir and its branch at Habsiguda in Hyderabad.
The IT officials raided the hospital as it failed to pay Income Tax for the last two years and was not responding to their notices.
The raids on the nursing home and also on the residence of the doctor, which was also located in the complex of the hospital, were began in the morning at 7 am and continued even after 8 pm.
Dr Padmaja is running the fertility centre in the nursing home for several decades, whereas her husband, Divakar, is an advocate.
According to sources, the nursing home was allegedly involved in promoting surrogacy to foreign clients and exploiting the surrogate mothers here.
IT officials did not allow anyone to come out from and leave the nursing home during the raids and officials reportedly seized the property documents from the hospital and the residence of the doctor.
