​Bhadrachalam: With the conclusion of Pagalpattu festivities, the first 10 days preceding the Vaikuntha Ekadasi, Rapattu celebrations began at the temple Devasthanam here from Monday.

The first day of Rapattu festivities commenced at the DSP office here. As part of it, Vishwaksena puja, Punya Vachanam and other special pujas were performed on the occasion.

DSP B Ashok Kumar, circle inspector B Sinivasulu, sub-inspectors P Karunakar, M Abbaiah and T Mahesh participated in the celebrations along with their family members.

First Class Judicial Magistrate KKV Bullikrishna, Bhadradri temple Devasthanam Executive Officer T Ramesh Babu, Devasthanam Divisional Engineer V Ravindranath, Transco Divisional Engineer Pratapa Reddy and others took part in the celebrations.

The temple priests performed special puja to the police records and weapons. The pujas, symbolic of Lord Rama inspecting the police station in his capacity as emperor, were performed placing the records and weapons on an elevated platform.

Later speaking to newsmen, Ramesh Babu said the officials here have been adhering to the age-old custom for decades.

To sensitise people on the tradition, the special puja was performed after having a word with the DSP Ashok Kumar.
