Utnoor (Adilabad): Minister for Major Irrigation T Harish Rao inaugurated a Rs 3 crore worth agricultural godown (Giddangi) at Jainur mandal headquarters in Komaram Bheem district on Wednesday. He was on a two-day visit to the district.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the TRS government has sanctioned Rs 25 crore for the development of Jodeghat, the birthplace of the great tribal leader Komaram Bheem.

Also, the government has sanctioned Rs 10 lakh for the renovation of the temple of Goddess Jangubai and Rs 4 crore for the development of Nagoba temple. The entire credit for this should go to the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, he added.Minister Harish Rao said that unlike the previous governments in the undivided Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister KCR was taking special interest in the development of this region and the people here were very fortunate.

The Minister also garlanded the statues of Hyman Darf and Betty Elizabeth. Lauding the efforts of Prof Darf, he said Darf made a detailed and extensive study on the lives of the tribal population and submitted a report to the Central government when no one was willing to go to such areas to do research sixty years ago.

Harish Rao said that the girijans would never forget the services rendered by Prof Darf and added that it was a matter of great pride for them. The Irrigation Minister also unveiled the plaques for the construction of a mini tank bund named after Prof Hyman Darf near the Raghavapuram cheruvu in Sirpoor-U mandal at a cost of Rs 2.34 crore and another mini-tank bund at Gopaiah cheruvu in Utnoor mandal costing Rs 3.70 crore.

The Irrigation Minister assured the tribal community that the State government would take many more measures for their welfare and development. He said that KCR was striving to implement all the promises made by the TRS during the 2014 elections and also to provide water for two crops to farmers and drinking water in the State.

Minister for Law, Housing and Endowments Allola Indrakaran Reddy, Adilabad MP Godem Nagesh, MLA Kova Lakshmi, MLC Puranam Satish, District Collectors of Adilabad, Mancherial and Komaram Bheem districts were present on the occasion.
