Nirmal: Even after two months since the high valued currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 were demonetised, the situation was expected to become normal. However, the present scenario seems contrary to the expectations with cash crunch still continuing in the district.

On one hand, banks were struggling to mobile the cash for paying the expected weekly amount to the people. On the other, the cotton market in Bhainsa, which was once holding the 3rd highest position in cotton production in the the undivided Andhra Pradesh is now in a bad shape due to the de-mon affect since the beginning of the season.

Demonetisation has also hit the mid-day meals programme in schools. Stock of food and other major things are fulfilled by the government, but when it comes to the general provisions needed for cooking, the chef cook the schools expressed disappointment as most of the things during demonetisation was either brought from other store keepers or by borrowing from others.

As the holidays have begun, these people have to stand in the long queues of the ATMs and get their dues cleared and salaries paid.

Long queues were still being seen in the banks even yesterday. People were seen returning disappointed without cash. It is the Sankranti festival on, and what hurts the people, most importantly the salaried employees who queue up the ATM and take their amount in instalments as the cash limit in an ATM is only Rs 4,500 per day.

The private employees were also seen thronging around the ATMs as the Central government has instructed he business organisations to ensure that the payments are made in the form of cheques in order to encourage digitization.

Even the milk vendors and vegetable store keepers were badly hit. The realty sector also bore the brunt of demonetisation as theier cheques were not cleared by banks.

Life has really turned very dismal and disgraceful to the people as the demonetisation has had a major impact on the day to day life of the common man.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Thursday, M. Srinivas Vyas said, "I have been waiting for my cheque to be cleared for the last 15 days, when I approach the banks, they regret saying that the cheque shall be approved in a short time.

I don't understand how can I make my both ends meet with empty pockets. In fact, I had to cancel my family holiday which I have planned long back due to the cash crunch as we teachers working in a private schools get very less holidays".

Such statements and reactions have been commonly seen by the people around. Hopefully, the affect of demonetisation doesn't last longer which may put an end to the patience of the people which may lead to some unexpected, unwanted events beyond the imagination of the central government.
