​Warangal: Adopting a holistic development philosophy and addressing issues of connectivity were the key factors, which require focus in developing Warangal Rural and Urban districts, suggested experts.

Industry players, scholars and government officials have shared their views on the measures needed for all round development of the districts. They came up with several suggestions towards the purpose at an interactive session here on Thursday.

The session was organised by Confederation of Indian Industries Telangana chapter and Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Warangal (KITSW) on the topic ‘Warangal District (Rural & Urban) Development Plan’ with an objective of involving stakeholders in a visionary exercise.

Warangal Urban District Collector Amrapali Kata speaking at the session opined that Warangal has immense potential in positioning itself as an educational hub with 296 colleges and large number of student base.

Employment generation for the graduates coming out of colleges needs greater attention, she noted and urged the CII to work towards industrial development in the districts.

There were immense opportunities in agro-processing, cold storage, connectivity, tourism and high-end medical care, the Collector opined.

As Warangal set to emerge as Smart City under a central scheme, the industry should partner with the district administration to work on various Smart City initiatives like heritage tourism, smart roads, system integration, wi-fi across Warangal and other smart linked developmental projects.

With 100 untouched tanks in the districts, water body protection should also be given priority, she added. CII Chairman Nrupender Rao, its vice-chairman V Rajanna, CII Telangana director and head Merin Devassia, CII south region past chairman Anil Kumar V Epur, Bharat Biotech International Ltd joint managing director Suchitra Ella, Dynatech Industries Pvt Ltd MD K Harish Reddy, Seasons Healthcare Ltd MD Vijay Kumar Reddy, Resource Inputs Ltd MD SV Ramachandra Rao and Deloitte Consulting senior manager Hariram have shared their views on development plan for the districts.

The industry players have felt that it is important to have a ‘Dry Port’ in the district to ensure faster movement of goods across the district.

A dedicated Industrial Park for women entrepreneurs to encourage rural women towards successful entrepreneurship should also be set up, they added.

Deloitte Consulting was the knowledge partner to undertake the study. NIT Warangal Director Prof GRC Reddy, the programme convener Prof V Ramaiah, the college director Y Manohar, treasurer P Narayana Reddy, DVLN Somayajulu of NITW have also participated in the discussions.
