Hyderabad: The Play School, Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad has enthusiastically celebrated Sankranti, the harvest festival, in the school campus with an aim to enrich the students knowledge about our country’s rich and diverse heritage and culture, a cultural programme set up against a rural backdrop was organized depicting the finer nuances associated with the four-day festival.

The process of ‘Haridasu’, ‘bobbemmalu’, bhogi mantalu, brightened up the celebration. ‘The patang festival’ – an event that was part of this celebration had many enthusiastic parents and even grandparents joining in there by adding a dash of merriment and warmth all around.

Students danced to popular tunes and watched with rapturous delight as kites of varying sizes and colours brightened up the sky. A token of appreciation was presented to G. Anil Kumar, father of G. Anirudh a student of LKG by Hari Hara Prasad the Director of our School for his highest soaring kite. Mothers cheerfully joined the excited children in making colourful ‘rangoli.’

This highlights the fact that it is at this tender age; we can sow the seeds of how important it is to stay rooted to our rich culture. We can also learn from our children to leave our enemity behind and stay united, to have a bright future a head – which is the very essence of the festival.
