Nalgonda: Telugu Desam Party founder president and late Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao’s 21st death anniversary was observed by party district leaders and cadres here on Wednesday.

On the day, party district president Bilya Naik, Nalgonda Assembly Constituency in-charge Bhoopal Reddy, state leader Madagoni Srinivas and party cadres paid floral tributes to the late leader at party district office in Nalgonda.

Speaking on the occasion, the leaders informed that NTR created ripples in national politics by swearing in as Chief Minister of the united Andhra Pradesh within a short span of nine months after floating the party.

NTR united the opposition parties in the nation against the behemoth Congress party and their anti-public policies, they added. “People discuss Andhra Pradesh politics as before NTR and after NTR,” they underlined.

They further listed out various welfare programmes and reforms that were brought in during NTR’s rule.

“NTR gave a new lease of life to BC, SC, ST and Minority leaders in politics by honouring them with suitable party posts and by nominating party candidates in elections,” the leaders said.

NTR successor and present Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been taking the party in the footsteps of the late leader, they underlined.

They, meanwhile, expressed concern over the functioning of State government and criticised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for not keeping the promises he made during 2014 elections.

They exuded confidence that TDP would come to power in Telangana in 2019 with the support of people and fans of late NTR.

Later, the leaders garlanded the statue of NTR near beat market on Hyderabad road and paid rich tributes.

Meanwhile, senior and junior NTR and Balayya fans associations distributed fruits to patients of government hospitals to mark the day.

Party leaders Vangala Swamy Goud, Pilli Ramaraju, LV Yadav, Goverdhan Yadav, Jan Reddy, Gundu Venkateshwarlu, Madusudhan Reddy and others participated.
