Muthyaala Appaji, who lost his vision in a mishap, appeals to the government to grant some land for taking up cultivation

Kothagudem: Muthyaala Appaji, a resident of Oddigudem village of Vararamachandrapuram mandal in East Godavari district, stands as an example for many youth of present generation. He lost his vision about 15 years ago in a mishap, but never let his hope die down.

Appaji, a self-reliant and strong-willed man, belongs to backward section and is living with his spouse, mother and two children. He ekes out a living by collecting firewood and selling it in nearby market.

He all alone fetches water from the banks of Godavari River. While fishing and swimming are his hobbies, he entertains people through his singing.

Speaking with The Hans India, he said, “Despite having many talents, God did injustice to me by taking back my vision. I knocked at the government’s door many times for help, but there was no response.

Instead of 30kg rice, I get only 10kg as ration. In order to setup a business with the assistance of my wife, I approached various banks.

They told me that they could give a sum of Rs 50,000 as loan if I had one lakh rupees already in my bank account.” He appealed to the government to grant him some agricultural land so as to make a living out of it.
