Recollecting the past

Hyderabad-based artist Varunika Saraf is doing her PhD in art history from JNU, Delhi.

Her work at exhibition ‘Ho Art’ at the State Gallery of Art, is a collection of news photos that have appeared over the past year, she presented the extraordinary struggle people are facing by using the oldest technology called drawing.

Varunika says, “My work shows the individual expression which ‘speaks’ more than the grand narratives that we are consistently bombarded with everyday life.

I invite viewers to interact with these artworks, take them off the self, and contemplate, in their own time the year that has been. If we cannot understand someone’s pain, what’s the point of this life?
