The NIT-W Director Prof GRC Reddy told press persons here on Thursday that the Centre’s move allowing the public sector undertakings to go for direct recruitment has made the number of placements go higher at the institute.

78 per cent of B Tech and 35 per cent of M Tech students eligible for placements have got offers from top MNCs and PSUs so far. With many companies yet to visit the campus and with two more months left in the placement calendar, placements of M Tech students might reach 75 per cent, he said.

A B Tech student has been offered job by Morgan Stanley with an annual package of Rs 80 lakh and the package was the highest offer made to a student of the institute so far.

Similarly a firm called Directi has offered Rs 29 lakh package to a student while WorksApp has offered Rs 34 lakh package four students.

Reliance and Bank of America have made highest number of job offers and there has been an impressive growth in the international recruitments during the year.

So far 160 companies have completed campus placements while in the last year 170 companies recruited NIT-W students, Prof Reddy revealed.

NIT-W has become a favourite destination for the premier companies and the institute students have got placements in countries like Taiwan, UK and Singapore. PSUs like BPCL, HPCL, Coal India Ltd., C-Dot, and GAIL have also participated in the campus recruitment.

MNCs like Microsoft, Amazon, TCS, D E Shaw, Oracle, Siemens, Samsung, PepsiCo, L&T Construction, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Ashok Leyland, Volvo Eicher, HSBC, Hyundai, Dell, Adobe, Qualcomm, Edelweiss and others have also made job offers to the NIT-W students, the Director informed.

Prof Reddy hoped that with they would achieve 100 per cent placement as there were two months left to complete the campus placements. On an average the college students were offered Rs 5-10 lakh package.
