Karimnagar: The representatives of Democratic Student Union (DSU) opposed the decision of establishment of government offices on Satavahana University lands taken up by the government. A meeting was held under the leadership of DSU State unit president Sekhar here at Satavahana University on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, its district president Janardhan said they would not tolerate if the government tries to set up Kothapalli mandal government offices on university lands. The government has allotted only 200 acres of land for the university in which major portions are occupied by many hills spread across the university.

‘Whatever land available is not sufficient for the construction of B Tech, Law, B Ed, M Ed and B Ped Colleges in future. Minimum 500 acres of land must be allotted to the university. Instead the government is trying to establish Kothapalli mandal government offices,’ he criticised.

He alleged that instead of opposing the government’s decision, the local MLAs, Ministers and MPs were supporting the government’s proposal to establish sub-stations, government offices, and police stations on university lands.

Under the pretext of establishing private universities, the government is trying to grab university lands across the State for dissolving higher education system, he pointed out.

If the government doesn’t withdraw its decision of establishment of government offices in the university lands, a massive student movement will be organised with all student organisations to teach the government a fitting lesson, he warned.DSU leaders Prakash, Suresh, Vinay, Ganesh, Kranthi, Vinod, Shirisha, Ramya, Manikyam, Lalitha and Shailaja were present along with others.
