Incidents relating to eve teasing, burglaries and menace of drunkards of have come down and the town is relatively peaceful. Thieves are scared to move in villages.

With the installation of several closed circuit television (CCTVs) cameras and the police maintaining a tight vigil, it has become difficult to indulge in crimes.

Earlier, several incidents relating to crime used to take place within the police limits covering Babipeta, Bhiknoor and Tadwai mandals near National Highway 44.

Drunkards used to create lot of nuisance in the villages and also misbehave the women. Many times it led to disturbances in law and order. Some of the thieves used to lift motorcycles parked without locks.

In Bhiknoor mandal, police installed CCTVs worth Rs 23 lakh to tighten the surveillance and also setup monitors in village panchayats. The footage would be sent to the police and it will become easy to trace the burglars.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Thursday, several villages expressed their happiness for the drastic fall in the crime rate due to the steps taken by the police department. One of the women Ramya said that eve teasing has come down.

In Bhiknoor mandal, police installed 230 CCTVs in 60 villages three months ago to arrest the incidents of crime. Earlier, such steps were taken in cities and towns but now they have also included villages and it was yielding good results.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Thursday, Bhiknoor Circle Inspector of Police Sridhar Kumar said that the CCTVs were very useful in tracing the thieves as their activities get recorded.

Steps would be taken to install such cameras in other villages too, he added. He appealed to the villagers to cooperate with them in the installation of more CCTVs.
