Nalgonda: District Collector Gaurav Uppal stated that services of Lions Club to the society were invaluable.

Speaking at a meeting organised as part of centennial celebrations of the Club at Kakatiya Degree College in Nalgonda on Friday, the Collector said district administration would take the help of NGOs, particularly the Lions Club, in implementing the government programmes effectively and in addressing various issues in the interest of public.

He urged the members of the Club to organise programmes to mitigate the fluoride problem in the affected villages in the district.

The Collector further urged them to create awareness among the tribals of Devarakonda division on gender equality and importance of girl child in the family and in society.

District Lions Club governor Ramanujacharyulu, in his speech, listed out various programmes carried out by the Club domestically and internationally. He also explained the history of Lions Club, including its origin, international structure, activities, milestones and aims.

Later, the Collector flagged off a rally of students carrying a national flag of length 100 meters to mark the centennial celebrations. The rally that started from Kakatiya Degree College concluded at Clock Tower.

Lions Club district vice-governor Nethi Raghupathi, Dr Pullarao, Dr Anitha Rani, Goli Amarender Reddy, Chilakala Goverdhan, Muralidhar Reddy, college director Muthi Reddy and office bearers of the Club and students participated in the programme.
