Upgrade Banswada into district

Kamareddy: The All-party group led by Nizamabad-JAC participated in a dharna in the town on Monday demanding the formation of a separate Banswada district. Addressing the gathering, State-JAC official spokesman Venkat Reddy lashed out at the TRS government for not conceding the demand to carve out a separate Banswada district though it conceded to the formation of Kamareddy district.

He said that it was highly unfortunate that the TRS leaders including Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao refused to concede the demand though the people of Nizamabad elected nine TRS MLAs covering nine constituencies in the 2014 general elections.

He wondered as to why Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy who hailed from Nizamabad district failed to take any interest in the issue. Banswada was fully qualified to become a district, he added.

Venkat Reddy demanded the State government to carve out two more districts taking the tally to 33 instead of 31.

Narayanpet should also be made into a district, he added. He said that it was unfortunate that Telangana State, which was formed after making so many sacrifices and bearing hardships by different sections of the society, including the students, employees and the poor, came under a family rule now just like in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. He said that the State-JAC president Prof M Kodandaram was striving for social, economic and political development of Telangana.

Venkat Reddy said that in a democracy, it was the people who were supreme but in Telangana State, KCR and his family members were ruling like autocrats. He cautioned the people to safeguard democratic values from being subverted.

He expressed the hope that the government would finally concede their demand and declare Banswada as a separate district. District-JAC leader Gopala Reddy and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
