SABIC, a global leader in diversified chemicals in association with Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET), under the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, has conducted skills development programme for 90 youth from less-privileged backgrounds in Hyderabad and Bhubaneshwar. 

Hyderabad: SABIC, a global leader in diversified chemicals in association with Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET), under the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, has conducted skills development programme for 90 youth from less-privileged backgrounds in Hyderabad and Bhubaneshwar.

Commenting on the programme, Janardhanan Ramanujalu, Vice President, SABIC South Asia & ANZ, said, “We are happy on the successful completion of the livelihood earning skill development program held at CIPET Hyderabad and CIPET Bhubaneshwar.


HIGHLIGHTS:

  • The programme entails a six month-long residential skill development course including a full scholarship that covers course fee, boarding and lodging costs.
  • The students were selected through a comprehensive screening process undertaken independently by CIPET.
  • Students in CIPET, Hyderabad were trained on plastics extrusion, while those in CIPET, Bhubaneshwar were trained to operate injection moulding machines.

Given the potential of the plastics processing industry in India, we believe that this program will add more skilled frontline workers to the industry and contribute to the Government of India’s vision of making India a global manufacturing hub.

We look forward to continuing this program in other CIPET centers in coming years too.”
V. Kiran Kumar, Director & Head, CIPET Hyderabad said, “This skill development program has been a success due to our collaboration with SABIC, which helped us bring in industry orientation to the curriculum.

These programs help equip youth with skills that are in line with the latest requirements in the plastics industry.”

Dr. PSG Krishnan, Director & Head, CIPET Bhubaneshwar said, “We are confident that the skills acquired by the participants of this program will help them capitalize on the opportunities presented by the growth in the plastics processing industry. This will help them in employment at various plastics processing hubs throughout the country. ”
