A two day national workshop on “Smart Building Materials & Technologies-2017” organised by Department of Civil Engineering, Muffakham Jah College of Engineering & Technology, Hyderabad supported by Department of Civil Engineering, Osmania University and Indian Concrete Institute Hyderabad Centre kick started on Friday at the MJCET campus. 

Hyderabad: A two day national workshop on “Smart Building Materials & Technologies-2017” organised by Department of Civil Engineering, Muffakham Jah College of Engineering & Technology, Hyderabad supported by Department of Civil Engineering, Osmania University and Indian Concrete Institute Hyderabad Centre kick started on Friday at the MJCET campus.

The Inaugural ceremony was presided by Zafar Javeed, Secretary , Sultan Ul Uloom Education Society.

The other dignitaries present were C Sekhar Reddy, Chairman, Indian Green Building Council, Hyderabad, S P Anchuri, Governing Council Member, Indian Concrete Institute Hyderabad centre, Prof V Bhikshma, Head, Civil Engineering Department, College of Engineering, Osmania University& Chairman, ICI Hyderabad, C Yedukondalu, Secretary, ICI Hyderabad Center, Basheer Ahmed, Advisor cum Director, MJCET.

The main aim of the seminar is to address the need of smart material and the newer technologies to be used to construct buildings and infrastructure.

India has huge demand of housing& infrastructure. The housing must become affordable then only we can achieve the expected target.

Already it is a well-known fact, that the demonetization has forced us to shift from phones to smart phones.

In buildings to the use of smart materials is having major role to make the built environment better, economical, ecological, sustainable and affordable.

Saving energy is very necessary while the construction and after the construction i.e., post occupation.

Right from foundations to finish of the construction use of newer technologies and smart materials is essential.

Civil Engineers play an important role in bringing these technologies with use of smart materials to bring in the required change in the methodologies &adoptability.

At the end of this workshop participants will be enlightened about material science and newer technologies used to create sustainable, affordable solutions in the construction sector.
