​Warangal: Grand celebrations and patriotic fervour marked 68th Republic Day in Warangal Urban and Rural, Jangaon, Bhupalpalli and Mahabubabad districts.

At Jangaon, District Collector A Devasena hoisted the national flag at Dharmakancha mini-stadium while at Bhupalpalli District Collector A Murali and at Mahabubabad District Collector Preeti Meena unfurled national flag.

The officials have presented reports on the progress on their districts. They called upon the district officials to make committed efforts for the development of the newly formed districts and to take welfare programmes to door steps of common public.

They laid special emphasis on the State government’s flagship programmes like Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha which would bring a phenomenal change in the villages. The formation of smaller districts would ensure faster and effective implementation of welfare and development initiatives.

They felicitated freedom fighters, presented appreciation certificates to employees of different departments in recognition of their services. Cultural programmes by school and college students have enthralled the audience.

At Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) head office in Warangal, Municipal Commissioner Shruti Ohja unfurled the tri-colour in the presence of Mayor N Narender. They presented certificates to best employees.

At Kakatiya University Vice-Chancellor Prof R Sayanna hoisted national flag and presented development report of the university and released the university news letter 'Vivechana' on the occasion.

The V-C felicitated a resident of Palivelpula village M Ranadeer for rescuing two KU Engineering College students from being washing away in SRSP canal recently and an employee of the varsity A Babu for helping in fishing out dead body of another student who died in the incident.

At TSNPDCL headquarters in Hanamkonda, the company CMD A Gopal Rao hoisted the national flag, at KUDA office the chairman M Yadava Reddy hoisted the flag. The national flag was hoisted at educational institutions and office of political parties on the day.
