​Utnoor: Tribal Welfare Deputy Director M Rammurthi unfurled the national tricolor in connection with the 68th Republic-Day celebrations held at the Integrated Tribal Development Authority office here on Thursday.

Addressing people on the occasion, he said there were 17,626 students and 938 teachers on the rolls of 906 schools run by the department.

Of the 2645 teacher posts and 60 hostel warden posts, 21 are yet to be filled. the tribal welfare residential schools run by the ITDA in the undivided Adilabad district have been achieving 80 per cent result in the SSC public examinations for the past three years.

The state government has been disbursing Rs 961.21 lakh towards scholarships to the residential school students.

Under the Kalyana Lakshmi schmeme, Rs 20.52 crore has been allocated towards the state government’s gift of Rs 51,000 to the bride to benefit 55,278 brides.

Utnoor revenue divisional officer Vidyasagar Rao and others took part in the programme. Earlier, students welcomed the officials singing a song highlighting the tribal Gond culture.
