Kothagudem: In a bizarre incident, a friendly fight between two students turned fatal when one of the students died at Chandrugonda Mandal Zilla Parishad High School here on Friday.
According to sources, On Friday, Srinath and Bhanu Prakash, Class X students, were playing with duster in the classroom.
Suddenly, Bhanu Prakash was hit by duster and fell between the benches and lost consciousness.
Suspecting something serious, the students informed teachers about the incident. The injured boy was rushed to government hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Alleging teachers’ negligence, the relatives of the deceased held a rasta roko, demanding compensation and suspension of teachers who were responsible for the incident.
District Education Officer Hayagriva Chary held talks with the relatives of the victim and announced Rs 1 lakh ex gratia. He suspended the physical education teacher Srujana and Headmistress Kumari.
The DEO also assured an outsourcing job to the victim’s family member. Juluru Circle Inspector Mallaiah Swamy said they have registered a case and investigation is underway.
