Kothagudem: District Collector Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu has directed officials concerned to come up with a work plan to plant 200 lakh saplings by next Haritha Haram programme.

Speaking at a review meeting with Mandal Parishad Development Officers, Rural Water Supply officials and special officers at collectorate on Tuesday, the Collector said the land in the district was suitable for raising dates and palm trees, for which nurseries are being set up.

He asked officials to send utilisation certificates for 2013-14 and 2014-15 while reviewing the Tribal Cooperative Finance Corporation (TRICOR) loans.

The collector asked them to allocate units under the supervision of people’s representatives. Referring to individual toilets, Hanumanthu said there were surplus funds for their construction.

He wanted to see to that at least one or two villages in each mandal were made open defecation-free by forming committees with the help of people’s representatives.

Forest department officer Shravan, DRDO Jagath Kumar Reddy and other officials of departments concerned participated.
