Nelakondapalli (Khammam): For the first time, the Telangana government has kick started the birth anniversary celebrations of Kancherla Gopanna, also known as Bhakta Ramadasu.

Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao inaugurated the three-day celebrations here on Tuesday. He was welcomed by the priests with the traditional Poorna Kumbham.

Speaking on the occasion Tummala said with the cooperation of the villagers of Nelakondapalli and Chief Public Relation Officer to Chief Minister Jwala Narasimha Rao, they would establish Ramadasu Memorial by the next birth anniversary. “We will develop Bhadrachalam temple with advice from Chinna Jeeyar Swamy,” the Minister said.

Ramadasu was renowned for the construction of Sriramachandra Swamy temple at Bhadrachalam. Earlier, they had installed the statue of Ramadasu in temple.

MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar, ZP Chairman Kavitha, CPRO V Jwala Narsimha Rao, MLC Balasani, former MLA Chekuri Kashaiah, a number of devotees and others were present.
